Video: Protests in Tshwane escalate
Residents of Laudium and the surrounding areas are protesting and burning tyres because they have had water for some time. As a result masses decided to gather outside the main the main entrance into the city. Videos of the protest are making rounds on social media and things are not going well.
It seems whenever a problem arises, people know who to blame. As always the ANC comes under scrutiny each time such issues take place. The water problem seems to be affecting other areas as deduced from the comments on social media. Some members of the public think the protests are staged and the people in the video are hired.
It is scary how people decide to go to the streets in numbers whilst in the midst of a pandemic. Some comments on Twitter show that most people think ANC is the problem. Here are the reactions and comments from the public:

“Parts of West Rand also affected”
“This is one low budget protest, wouldn’t hurt a fly”
“They want to issue tenders for their comrades track water tanks tender to supply resident with water.“
“I’m sorry to say this but I do not feel anything to these people they keep on voting the ANC”
“Hope they are aware that the Delta variant does discriminate whether one has a just cause or not, for as long as precautions are disregarded, it will strike”
“Even in Saulsville, we don’t have water. They don’t even tell us that we won’t have water, this is so unfair!!!!”
“They will all vote ANC come election time.”
The last time there were reports of protests things did not end well in many parts of South Africa. People ended up looting and destroying infrastructure. We all have rights and deserve to have answers when the system fails but matters should not escalate into violence or destruction of property.
