Actress Nolo Phiri who used to play Nicki Bonco on Rhythm City shared an exciting trailer of Ehostela. In the trailer, we saw two formidable actors of Mzansi. Both actors used to play characters on the eTV soapie Imbewu. One of them is Nonkanyiso Mchunu who used to play Nkululeko Bhengu.
Tony Kgoroge is also a cast member of season 3 of Ehostela. He used to play Ngcolosi on Imbewu. Ironically Ngcolosi was the father of Nkululeko on the eTV soapie. Tony and Nkanyiso both have awe-inspiring acting skills. Their skills, combined with the Ehostela storyline, will be gripping.
Nkululeko Bhengu on Ehostela
Nkanyiso’s character on Ehostela is not yet identified, but we see him being explosive in the trailer. Nkanyiso passes trials to be a fully-fledged member of the Quthula gang. His journey is not easy, however. He reaches points of questioning his morality in the name of bravery.
He is a careless criminal who desires to please his soul first. In one scene, he kisses the cheeks of a young girl in front of her female elders. We see him blowing up a cash-in-transit van with his gang. On most days, he wears khaki pants and a leopard print vest. His outfit is a popular attire in KZN, where the story is based.
At some point, he runs around from the police and jumps from buildings. His character is an actual criminal hungry for a place in the world of crime.
On Imbewu, he played a CEO who used to be in the army. What’s different between his two roles is that we see him doing crime on the streets. For once, we see him outside the comfort and battling to survive without his family.
Tony Kgonoge on Ehostela
Tony’s role is also not yet identified just as yet. In the trailer, he plays a member of the gang. Unlike Nkanyiso, he is on the older and wiser side of the gang. We see from him the subtle art of keeping composed. He will be the one to notice signs of impulsiveness in the younger gang members.
On the trailer, they will rob cash in transit vehicles, and he says, “We only want money today, not blood spill.” The magnitude of the crime is lessened by encouraging the younger members not to commit murder. He is a person who can study character with a person’s actions.
Tony played the role of an oil giant on Imbewu. Ngcolosi was the CEO of Maluju Oils. He was a rich man in wealthy circles. When he faced turmoil, he became demonic towards his family. In the end, though, he finally rebooted to being a good man.
Mzansi reactions
So far, there isn’t a single negative or sarcastic comment on the trailer shared by Nolo Phiri. Most people are happy with the cast members of the show. Only the great have been chosen. With good acting and an amazing storyline, the show can only reach for the stars. Mzansi seems to agree it’s going to be enjoyable from now onwards.
Some Instagram users are just happy we will be seeing the two actors on screen again. A demographic of these people noted how Imbewu shouldn’t have let them go in the first place. At least now, their fans will see them showcasing their acting talents again.
