A man committed suicide by running into a burning fuel tanker on top of Houwhoek Pass in Western Cape province of South Africa. In the video, the man is seen running straight into flames burning from a petrol tanker that was involved in an accident on top of the bridge.
A motorist who parked her vehicle after noticing the burning truck filmed the incident. At first the truck is seen burning and as the flame grows, a man is seen running on top of the Houwhoek Pass and on to the fire.
A woman filming the video is heard calling in Afrikaans and in English, “Why is he doing that, somebody stop him.”
The incident is yet to be explained by the police of the burning fuel tanker owners but has left South Africans puzzled on what could have been the motive of the man who ran into the fire.
The owners of the burning petrol tanker are not yet known.
Some people who commented about the incident are of the opinion that the person who ran into the fire could have been the petrol tank driver or assistant attempting to extinguish the fire.
