Idols SA judge Somizi Mhlongo admitted that he is under depression, but he remained hopeful that he would fight it and probably save at least one person. Mental health issues have affected many of Mzansi’s top celebs, and it’s important to note such signs. A few months ago, Mzansi lost one of its finest rappers, Riky Rick, when he committed suicide. Rick later appeared to hint at his depression and suicidal thoughts, but all ignored it. As if that was not enough, we also lost Gomora star Sdumo ‘Siyabonga Zubane’ to suicide.

Indeed, listening carefully to Somizi when he said he had been in episodes of depression and sadness is essential. Probably it’s critical for those who are close to him to start looking for signs; he may also be having suicidal thoughts. Fortunately, unlike Rick and Siyabonga, Somizi seemed to know what he needed to do to overcome such phases in life. He shared his experience, and how much he struggled to open up, we thank God he opened up.

Idols SA judge Somizi is under depression but hopes to save souls.

Mental health experts say that speaking about issues is one of the primary weapons to get past depression. We thank God, Somizi is aware of that. We remain hopeful that Somizi will be well soon after speaking about it and shall see this sad episode pass him. In a short video, Somizi said that he had recorded the video the previous day but had no courage to share it. After gathering the courage, he said that he would pray about the depression and hope that what he shared would save at least one person who is going through sad episodes/depression in their life.

Somizi has settled with new Idol SA judges Thembi Seete and Jr Bogopa.

After over five years alongside Randal Abrahams and Unathi Nkayi, Somizi finds himself with a new team. This looked like they were going off in the first days when he publicly clashed with Thembi Seete. It seemed that the two judges had been seriously working on their relationship on the stage. They have since resolved their differences and look like they have been working together for years. Undoubtedly, it seemed like a good move to replace Randal and Unathi with Thembi and Jr. What a team they have formed.
