A drunk Zupco driver yesterday caused havoc in Budiriro when he stopped a bus in the middle of the road blocking other motorists. A woman in the video background is heard accusing the driver of ramming into their car.
It is not the first time Zupco drivers have been accused of endangering citizens life. Earlier this year it was reported that about 40 Zupco drivers had failed rest. Some of the drivers were reported to be driving without driving licenses.
The government introduced Zupco franchises last year which allows private bus operators to opt into the programme and use their buses just as government Zupco buses. The arrangement has seen old buses and other unroadworthy kombis finding their way onto the roads. Unlicensed and drivers also took advantage of thee situation
