Well, Babes Wodumo seems to be minding her own business of late. It’s been months since she decided to keep her life under wraps. We have even heard few hits from her of late.
However, a few months ago she made all sorts of headlines when she threatened to take her mother-in-law to court. Their fallout barely came in the wake of her traditional wedding with Mampintsha.
Mampintsha’s mother lashed out at Wodumo and even question her pregnancy. No doubt the drama was even fueled by Mampintsha who weighed into the matter taking Babes Wodumo side.
However, she raised a few eyebrows when she was seen sipping champagne at her birthday celebrations in March. For months, there has been speculation the Gqom queen is expecting her first child with long-time boyfriend turned fiancé Mampintsha (Mandla Maphumulo).
This led to questions after a video surfaced of Babes supposedly taking a sip of champagne at her recent birthday celebrations in March.
The bottle in her hand in the video is believed to be Moet & Chandon Nectar Imperial which doesn’t seem to come in non-alcoholic variants.
Although Gqom musician Babes Wodumo has not officially announced the impending birth of her first child, she no longer seems to be hiding her baby bump when she was recently seen partying up a storm at Soweto’s popular hangout venue, Zone 6.

Babes was on the lineup of DBN Gogo’s “Kwa Gogo’s” birthday celebrations at the venue alongside artists such as Black Motion, Riky Rick, and DJ Banques.
In a video screen recorded from DBN Gogo’s Instagram stories, Babes can be seen dancing on stage alongside the birthday girl while she cradles her stomach and rubs it. However, it was reported that Pictures: Mampintsha trolls and shades his mother, takes Babes Wodumo side. Barely a weeks after their colourful traditional wedding Mampintsha and Babes Wodumo have been making all sorts of headlines.
Their traditional wedding was attended by A_List celebrities which included DJ Tira. However, in the wake of their union Mampintsha’s Mother, Zama Gumede dropped some bombshells.
Yes, she did the unthinkable. She pulled a shocker when she shared a viral video slamming and shaming Babes Wodumo. Amongst many of the insults she hurled at her daughter-in-law and the Simelanes, Zama Gumede called the musician a liar who has been faking her pregnancies.
Mampintsha had kept mum until this past weekend when he threw shade at his mother in all of this mayhem. During the newlyweds’ date, the former Big NUZ member posted a picture of himself and his wife with the caption “nomaka spontshi” which, when loosely translated means “with sponge’s mother” – referring to Zama Gumede’s comment about Babes’ pregnancy.
The West Ink boss went on to post another picture, revealing that they will be releasing new music. You won’t guess what the title of the song will be ‘makaSpontshi and baba kaspontshi.’ The musician has decided to turn this situation around by making lemons into lemonade.
