Uzalo confirms Baby Cele and Siyabonga Shibe exit
Uzalo has confirmed exit rumours surrounding the show’s two leads Baby Cele and Siyabonga Shibe, who play Gabisile and Qhabanga respectively
Fans doubted the two would leave the show because both characters form part of the show’s integral cast and storyline.
Baby Cele and Shibe have been rumoured to be leaving the show for many months and Uzalo confirmed their exit in a press statement.
Uzalo stated that the decision was made in consultation with both Baby Cele and Siyabinga Shibe. The show said the two will be leaving by the end of season six and that the storyline has taken a new direction.
“Baby Cele and Siyabonga Shibe will, indeed, be leaving the show by the end of season six of Uzalo. The story has taken this direction, and will give us a riveting, high-stakes ending for both characters. The decision was made in consultation with the two actors.”
Baby Cele assumes the role of Gabisile, whilst Siyabonga portrays her on-and-off lover, Qhabanga. The production concluded that they are introducing new characters on the show which will be played by South Africa’s best.
“Both have given a tremendous amount to their roles on Uzalo, and we are forever grateful for that. We will be introducing a host of new characters played by South Africa’s best. Please stay tuned and see as the story unfolds.”
