News filtering in is that Unemployment Insurance Fund Commissioner Teboho Maruping has been placed on precautionary suspension.
The development comes after an investigation into the COVID-19 temporary relief UIF Covid-19 TER by the Auditor-General Kimi Makwetu.
Minister of Employment and Labour Thulas Nxesi will provide further details and unpack the findings of the Auditor-General in relation to the Relief Fund Audit at a media briefing on Wednesday afternoon.
A source close to the process confirmed to a local publication that employment and labour minister Thulas Nxesi made the decision to place Maruping on suspension following the auditor-general’s report on the Temporary Employer/Employee Relief Scheme (Ters).
