Two Johanne Marange Prophetesses arrested for alleged murder during healing session
The Zimbabwe Republic Police have arrested two self proclaimed prophetesses from the Johanne Marange Apostolic Sect on murder charges. Elina Rumhangu and Dorothy Mbano were arrested in connection with the murder of Prosper Chinangwe.
Prosper had visited the prophetesses at their home for faith healing. Both women allegedly used a surgical blade to cut the swelling in Prosper’s veins on the left leg during a spiritual healing session at their house in Highfield.
Prosper Chinangwe died after being admitted at the Sally Mugabe Central Hospital after losing a lot of blood through the cut. The Zimbabwe Republic Police National Spokesperson Assistant Commissioner Paul Nyathi confirms the incident.
Two Johanne Marange Prophetesses arrested for alleged murder during healing session
“The ZRP confirms the arrest of two members of the Johanne Marange Apostolic Sect in connection with a case of murder that occurred on March 14, 2021 in Highfield, Harare.”
“The victim aged 43 visited the suspects at their house of residence for spiritual healing and was cut with a surgical blade, the swelling veins of his left leg.”
“He bled profusely and lost a lot of blood until the suspects ferried him to Sally Mugabe Hospital where he died upon admission,” assistant Nyathi said.
The Zimbabwe Republic Police urges citizens to be cautious when they seek help of self-proclaimed prophets. Recently self proclaimed prophets have been making the headlines. Some have been arrested for coning their clients, raping minors during prayer sessions and others for act opposite to what the Bible says about the way we should live.
The love of money has pushed people to do the unexpected. Some have been reported to go to traditional healers and take part in rituals. An expert would have not cut someone’s vein knowing one would bleed profusely.
We should be aware and be careful of the so called false prophets.
