Tumelo Ramaphosa, the son of President Cyril Ramaphosa, shared a photo on Instagram that caused a stir on social media. The photo showed him with Patrice Motsepe, South Africa’s first and only black billionaire and his uncle.
The photo was taken on Sunday 12 November, after Motsepe’s football club, Mamelodi Sundowns, made history by winning the African Football League. Tumelo Ramaphosa captioned the photo: “We are led @sundownsfc”.
Patrice Motsepe bought Sundowns in 2003 and changed its name to Mamelodi Sundowns in 2004, according to the Sundowns website. The club thanked its fans on social media for their support after they beat Morocco’s Wydad Casablanca 2-0 in the second leg of the final at the Loftus Versfeld stadium.
FIFA president Gianni Infantino was also present at the stadium and praised the club and the country for their achievements. He said: “The most popular sport in South Africa by far is football and that’s why there’s a huge focus on the development and growth of football.
The Springboks have uplifted the spirit and the unity in this country which is beautiful and we are confident that football is gonna do the same,” SABC reported.
