This week she hasn’t failed as she has already done something that South Africans find questionable. Mzansi has mixed reactions after Zodwa Wabantu shares pictures of her ritual.
Zodwa Wabantu saw it fit to post a picture of herself kneeling while a traditional ritual was being performed with a chicken. She was covered in a white garment with three men helping her with the ceremony. In her Instagram post, she captioned the photo Camagu.
Zodwa’s post was met with mixed reactions from her followers and fans, mostly negative. Some people did not understand what Zodwa was doing and thought it was some black magic. Some of Zodwa’s fans said that the ritual should be done in private because these traditional rituals are sacred. Others were making fun of the biscuits and glass of milk placed in front of the entertainer.

However, not everyone had bad things to say about Zodwa’s traditional ritual, as some of her followers applauded her for showing it. One Instagram user in particular who uses the username just_chocks claims that anyone who finds something wrong with that has a colonized mindset. She said that there was nothing more African than these rituals and that Africans should be proud of their culture. Instead of hiding it, she went further to question how the coming generations will know of their roots.

Zodwa got Mzansi talking a few weeks ago when she performed a ritual at the river in the wrong way. Ever since she announced that she had a calling to be a sangoma, she has been public with her acceptance rituals. Even before that, she has been known to visit sangomas for protection. Once she said she was bewitching an ex-boyfriend who scammed her. When people question her, Zodwa responds that she doesn’t care what anyone thinks of her actions.
