This is how you get tested for Covid-19 using nose swabs
Swabs are used to take samples for testing for novel coronavirus presence in your respiratory system. A nasopharyngeal swab is used.
The swab is supposed to reach the back of your throat but it cannot be pushed through the mouth as it will be contaminated and show fake results. It is pushed through your nose to the back of your throat, just above the nasopharynx, and then rotated to collect the specimen.
The swab is then removed and snapped off at the break line, allowing the end with the swab tip to remain in the liquid.
The process can be painful for some people but it is necessary to avoid fake results.
