A Johannesburg resident in South Africa could have broken the record of the biggest order on Monday they made an order worth R30000. The order was made at Dry Dock Liquor.
South Africa liquor shops have experienced a boom in sales from walk ins and and online orders since the lifting of the beer ban after two dry months. Liquor shops are allowed to operate from Monday to Thursday between 9am and 5pm.
The manager at Dry Dock Liquor Taryn Pienaar spoke to HeraldLive, “We received a private order of R30,000 for spirits and wine, in particular. That’s the highest we’ve received during the lock down. The lowest was for one bottle of wine for R65.”
Other shops across the country have also experienced a spike in sales volumes. Long queues were seen at most liquor shops as South Africans fear the government can ban alcohol again.
