Thembi Seete opened up about losing her friend Lebo Mathosa’s death when she graced the Kaya FM studios for a radio interview on the 9th of February. She was interviewed by the breakfast team Thomas Msengana and Skhumba. She revealed many things and gave the listers a glimpse into her world. She also proved to have a broad sense of humour, as she laughed each time Skhumba made a joke. Thembi is on the True Love Magazine cover for the February and March issue as she’s becoming open about speaking out about her life.
Pain and loss
When the topic of Lebo Mathosa’s death came, the Gomora actress became emotional. She expressed how Hlomla Dandala, the actor from The River, called to ask her if she was okay. She also spoke about another industry peer calling to check on her, assuming that Thembi was deceased. Thembi was in Cape Town when she was receiving the calls, and her producer later broke the news to her. Gladys from Gomora made her way to the airport then arrived at Lebo’s home in Benoni to find Lebo’s mother dressed in mourning attire. Former Boom Shaka member Theo Nhlengethwa was already at Lebo’s home when Thembi arrived.
Thembi Seete and Lebo Mathosa
In 1994, Boom Shaka released their debut single titled It’s About Time, and it took Mzansi by storm. Boom Shaka consisted of Thembi, the late Lebo, Theo Nhlengethwa and Junior Sokhela. Thembi and Lebo were close from their first days.
Boom Shaka relationship revelation
It turns out before Lebo’s passing, she and Theo Nhlengethwa were in a romantic relationship. Thembi described their love as intense; apparently, the couple planned to get married and have children. Eleven years after Lebo’s passing in 2004, Theo made a social media tribute to her where he called Lebo his queen.
Thembi Seete will always be affected by the death of her friend; on the interview’s podcast, she almost cried when she spoke about it.
