The River is bracing itself for the Hlophe family. The fabulous Bheki Mkhwane leads the family. Now you know Bheki used to play one of the most popular characters on the now-cancelled Isibaya as the controversial Samson Ndlovu.
Bheki will be playing Bukhosi Hlophe, a trigger happy ex-Military officer who is a quick thinker.
His young wife will be played by Brenda Mhlongo, who played Ka Madonsela on Imbewu. She will play Nomafu, Bukhosi’s intelligent second wife. She crawled out of poverty, and although she is failing to be a good stepmom, her intelligence more than makes up for it. She knows how to clean cash, and she will definitely give Lindiwe a run for hers.
Then enter the two sons, Mlilo and Nkanyiso, respectively. These two come from Bukhosi’s first marriage and they have a complicated relationship with him. Mlilo is the older earth one, but Nkanyiso is a hot-headed go-getter and the two brothers butt heads on many occasions. Vuyo Biyela and Nkanyiso will play Mlilo by Unathi Mkhize. Finally, the flower of the family, the young daughter Khwhezi who Tina Dlathu will play, is described as clever with a touch of the nativity which will bring the Hlophe and the Dikanas to an extraordinary situation. Tina is the younger sister of Sindi Dlathu who plays Lindiwe Dikana.
The family is set to make a dramatic arrival on May 20th 2022. According to the teasers, the family buys into Khanyisa Diamonds and sets off a rivalry between them and the Dikanas.
Lindiwe is said to have met her competition in Nomafu; the two will have their worlds thrust into one another, and we should get ready for fireworks.
The Hlophe family will give Lindiwe a run for her money and keep Zweli on his toes as he runs after them.
The River is one of the most successful Telenovelas in the country, with solid storylines and characters. The story revolves around greed, power and betrayal.
Everyone is excited to have Bheki Mkhwane back on the screen as he hadn’t been seen since he exited Isibaya long before the Soapie ended.
