Yesterday we saw our favourite celebrities dazzling the Durban July. Today we take a look at their outfit designers.
Mzansi had its annual horse racing event, the Durban July, yesterday. The stars showed up with their best feet forward, glammed up for slaying. Some looked dazzling, and you can tell time and effort went into their outfits. Other celebrities showed up and got Mzansi questioning their seriousness of following themes.
The fashion element is just as crucial as the Durban July is, a horse racing event. This year the theme was ‘ show me some honey’. Ladies interpreted the theme with a lot of gold in their clothing.
Thembi Seete
Thembi was wearing an all-pink suit with a pink top underneath her blazer by Scalo Designs. Her top had lace detailing. Her pants were regular, and the blazer had a lot of decorations. Her shoes were floral, and she carried a Louis Vuitton bag.
Scalo Designs drew inspiration from the brightness of flowers. As we all know, bees are attracted to bright flowers for nectar. Their thought process was the nature of bees in the creation of honey. Although her outfit was different from many, the idea is quite evident.
Minnie Dlamini
Minnie was dressed by the designer Jessica Jane. She wore a midi white and floral bodycon dress with a short slit. Minnie also had on white framed shades and a white fascinator on her head. To accessorize, the presenter opted for a white handbag, white pearl earrings and a pearl necklace.
Similarily to Thembi Seete, the thought process behind her dress is eminent. Many people thought her outfit seemed a bit too ordinary for the event but slayed it. Making the dress, a floral dress was the designer’s way of attracting bees.
Boity Thulo
Rapper and entrepreneur Boity Thulo stunned the event with a Keys Fashion House dress. Her dress had sequence, bead and rhinestone detailing all across the lace. Many reviewers have dubbed her one of the event’s best-dressed stars. In her words, she went for luxury and elegance.
Boity was dressed as honey. The sleeves of the dress were long and very widely opened with feather detailing along the edges. She also had a gold crown that contrasted perfectly with the golden decorations of her dress.
Ayanda Thabethe
Entrepreneur and media personality Ayanda Thabethe was dressed in a Laart Neviole Emporium ensemble. Her dress was figure-hugging with a lot of bead detailing. On the top part, it was corset styled, but the chest region extended towards her shoulders.
In her words, she said she was dressed as a honeycomb despite her dress being silver and with platinum details. Her dress was more metallic than themed around honey, and she looked breathtaking.
