Background
Thato spent his high school years in Mafikeng where he was an average student. He then went on to study Film and Broadcasting at Damelin in 2005.
However long before he studied film and broadcasting he knew that he would pursue acting as a career. He used to attend North Wits Arts council and this sparked his life long love for acting.

Thato started his career at a very tender age. In 1996 he featured in kiddies shows including The Grandball and Jack in The Box. Five years later he then moved to theater. He appeared in A Midsummer Nights Dream, King lear, Hamlet and Romeo and Juliet. After this he ventured into musicals where he appeared in Where The sun rises in 2004 and Meropa in 2006.
His most popular role was Nicholas Nomvethe on Generations, a brat to say the least. He was fired alongside many other stars from Generations in 2014. After this he moved to radio. He had his own show at East Coast Radio station in Durban. It airs from 10am to 2pm on Sundays. He plays Maru on Greed and Desire whilst at the same time playing TK on Umlilo.

This is because Bongi did not like the idea of another woman playing on her turf. On top of that there are rumors that he may have fathered Bongi’s toddler.
Philanthropy
He works closely with an organisation called Sangcono from his birth place. He is also their brand ambassador alongside being a mentor and facilitator for most of the workshops. “I’m working closely with a North West charity programme called Sangoco where I am the brand ambassador. We do cultural exchanges with overseas countries and conduct workshops for aspirant artists. I am pro-education: if we don’t educate, we’ll have problems like crime and HIV,” he said.
Thato recently launched the first-ever film academy in Gauteng in collaboration with Gateway Media and the South African Creative Industries Incubator. Taking to social media, the star announced that ‘The Leaders in Motion Academy’ had been launched in Tshwane.
