I have always loved radio as a medoum to genuinely connect with people through music and conversation. I believe that music is a true leveller, bringing people together in a place and time that is just about what they are hearing and how it makes them feel. I can’t wait to get behind the mic and contribute to our 947 audience’s listening experience.
Thando Thabethe replaces DJ Fresh on 947
Thando Thabethe joins the show to replace DJ Fresh who was dismissed last month by Primemedia following rape allegations alongside Euphonik.
Johannesburg – Primedia Broadcasting can confirm that, after careful consideration of the events of the last few weeks, the company has decided to release DJ Fresh and Euphonik from their contracts. Their last shows on 947 were aired on 15th January and 10th January 2021 respectively.
“This decision does not reflect a view on the veracity of any allegations against either Euphonik or Fresh. Rather it prioritizes Primedia Broadcasting’s business imperatives. We believe that this decision is in the best interest of our company and our various stakeholders ,” Primemedia said in a statement.
The charges against Euphonik and DJ Fresh were dropped but the relationship with Primmedia ended.
Thando Thabethe was called out by MacG on his podcast for selectively canceling him while keeping silent when Euphonik and DJ Fresh were being accused of rape. Thando retaliated by showing support for Namapree who accused the DJs of rape.
I recently spoke out against hate speech towards homosexual and transsexual people. I believe strongly in the rights, to respect and fair treatment, for all human beings, and I wanted to give voice to this important issue. I am deeply concerned by the subsequent insults and petty, albeit unsuccessful, attempts to belittle my almost 12 years in the TV and FILM industry in response to my position on these human rights. The personal attacks and even the resorting to “posting nudes” deserves nothing but my contempt and as such, really are of no real importance in my life. However, what is hurtful is the attempt to minimise the work so close to my heart, that which I do for vulnerable women and children. I am a founder not a “face”of an organisation that has, over the years, raised almost half a million rands towards combatting violence against women and children in SA. Just so it is clear… I stand firmly by @nampree and should it not have been clear I am utterly Disappointed by the re-victimisation of @Nampree I BELIEVE YOU.. Should you need any assistance emotionally or financially let it be clear I stand by you🙏🏾❤️🙏🏾❤️
