Thabo Malema is a South African actor who plays Bohang on eTV’s Scandal. If there is one individual who has managed to get under the skins of every viewer, it has to be Scandal’s Bohang. Probably Mzansi’s most hated on screen character currently. But, not so surprisingly, Thabo Malema who plays Bohang on Scandal is the opposite of his on screen character and is easily a lovable guy.
Thabo Malema: Getting to know Scandal’s cunning Bohang
The 36 year old actor has been in the industry for almost two years. The actor is a big deal having featured in both local and international productions. He featured in the international production The No 1 Detective Agency alongside Jill Scott. He also featured in Primeval Kill. When it comes to the big screen locally Thabo has featured in some of the best productions as well; White Lion, Kalushi, A Million Colours. Kalushi has to be one of the most historically valuable films he has worked on. The film is about Solomon Mahlangu, a young man who joins the South African Liberation movement after being beaten by apartheid police officers.
Other than playing the abusive Bohang on Scandal, Thabo has also featured in Lithapo, Gold Diggers, The professionals, Single Guys,The river, Jacob’s Cross, and Gauteng maboneng . His ad appearances on Yogi-sip, Lotto, Lovelife, and BioPlus have also made him a popular face.
When it comes to his hobbies, Thabo is a pretty laid back guy. “I love spending time with family. I love sports, in particular soccer. I love reading, a bit of pantsula and gumboots dancing. I love physically orientated activities,” he says. While he loves his family, he has kept his private life tucked far away from the eye of the public.
Like other creatives, Thabo has spoken about how Covid-19 has negatively impacted the entertainment industry and particularly him and productions he works on. “The production I was working on was shutdown and as a result one had to stay home. In my line of work you don’t get paid if you don’t work. So, I find it to be very challenging, it has been frustrating financially, as an artist it has cheated me of my daily bread.”
One interesting fact about Thabo is that he is a farmer. The actor has a farm in Brandbach, Mpumalanga. He has ventured into poultry farming and a variety of crops. Apparently farming is a family horned skill as his father was a farmer too.
