Temba Mliswa asks for Anne Nhira to be declared a provincial hero
The Norton Member of Parliament Temba Mliswa feels that Anne Nhira should be declared a provincial hero just like Soul Jah Love. Taking to twitter Temba posted saying,
“Another sad loss to hit the arts & entertainment industry. My sincerest condolences to the family of the late Anne Nhira. In recognition of her contributions to the industry and March as Women’s month, isn’t she suitable to be made a Provincial Hero?”

No doubt Anne Nhira influenced a lot of females in Zimbabwe through her acting and work outside the film industry. After her letter to the Ministry of Tourism opposing the notion of having Zodwa Wabantu at the Carnival, she got more famous. Later that year she appeared at a ZANU-PF youth march in solidarity with Grace Mugabe.
The whole of Zimbabwe mourns Anne Nhira and many support Temba Mliswa’s appeal. However, not everyone is in support. Replies to his tweet show the disapproval with others saying,
“I don’t get how by just being an actress a less popular for that matter makes one a heroine ““The word hero is being inappropriately used lately. Why not have a standard of conferring such achievers with an Order of Merit instead? Sounds befitting since Zpf seems to have converted the hero status to someone who stood loyal to the party than the initial original meaning.”
