The South African entertainment industry is mourning the loss of a gifted actor, Mpho Sebeng, who tragically died in a car accident. Sebeng, aged 30, took his last breath following the incident near Klerksdorp in the North West province.
Sebeng was widely recognized for his television roles, including Siso Ledwaba in the popular series “Zero Tolerance” (2001-2006) and Slay in “Soul Buddyz” (2011). Born in Soweto and raised in Witpoortie, Randburg, Johannesburg, he attended West Ridge High School, where he matriculated in 2011.
At just 12 years old, Sebeng caught the attention of his mother’s friend during a school production, who encouraged him to pursue acting. His notable performances included roles in “Justice for All,” “Zero Tolerance,” and “Bay of Plenty.”
In 2011, Sebeng portrayed Tsietsi Mashini in the film “Winnie,” where he had the memorable experience of meeting Jennifer Hudson on set. Beyond acting, he had a passion for scriptwriting, photography, and directing, aiming to contribute significantly to South Africa’s entertainment industry.
In 2015, Sebeng played Lebo Ngcobo, a troubled young man and brother to Axe and Jackson’s youngest son, in the e.tv drama series “Z’bondiwe.” Additionally, he portrayed Neo, a bare-knuckle boxing champion discovered on the streets of rural Limpopo, in the 2016 e.tv telenovela “Ring of Lies.”
Actor Zola Hashatsi expressed his grief on social media, saying, “It is with a sad, deep, and painful heart to announce the passing of a young brother, a friend I took in to replace us when we exited.”
As of now, the police in Klerksdorp have not provided any official comments regarding the accident.
