Maumela Mahuwa, who plays the role of Susan on the SABC 2 soapie Muvhango has ventured into music again. A few days ago, she shared a preview of her new song. She says her song is hip hop, but Mzansi is not quite sure of her sound. Most people think her song is a fusion of pop and RnB music. Also, these days hip, hop music is a bit too groovy, but her song is a bit too dull for the new age sound, and it just doesn’t correspond.
Song lyrics of her song
In her song, her lyrics are clear and meaningful. Quite frankly, it’s quite a motivational song. She says she sees something unique in the listener. She gives motivation so the listener doesn’t give up on life. In the video preview of the song, she moves like a rapper, but her outfit is a tad too plain. She is wearing a black dungaree dress that doesn’t reach the knee.
Mzansi reacts to the song
People have mixed reactions to her song. Some people think her song brings must need positive vibes. Seeing a rapper do upbeat music instead of rapping about savagery and bragging. Some people believe Susan is just forcing things and perhaps sticking to what she knows. Others are trolling her and calling her Vho Meghan The Stallion. Some South Africans say the song isn’t that bad, and if you listen to it, it gets better with time.
Her previous attempt at the music scene
In the year 2016, she released her debut album titled One. She had 13 songs in the gospel genre. Her singing career boomed just a month after her release but later died down. After her singing career didn’t take off, she focused on her acting career on Muvhango.
How actors can easily be musicians
Actors and presenters can easily dabble in the music industry. Being famous easily opens doors for an artist. Marketing the musical releases is also easier as there is exposure already. We’ll see if she releases more music that will appeal better in the Mzansi market to make her boom.
