Stay in South Africa: Zimbabwe shuts down its border to returning citizens.
The Zimbabwean government has closed its border to returning ordinary Zimbabwean citizens, the Beit Bridge – Musina border is closed for desperate Zimbabweans who are looking to return home after reopening of the South African border.
Due to lockdown restrictions, Zimbabwean borders are still closed to ordinary citizens despite them having negative Covid-19 test results. Currently, diplomats and business people are only allowed to pass through the Beit bridge- Musina border post into Zimbabwe.
Speaking to Enca journalist Khayelihle Khumalo, stranded Zimbabweans revealed that they were told that they cannot pass because the borders are closed despite having Covid-19 negative test results.
Some of them came as far as CapeTown in a bid to return back home.
The closure of the Beit bridge border has increased illegal crossing to and from Zimbabwe through the Limpopo River.
