Orlando Pirates beat Kaizer Chiefs yet again
Yesterday, Orlando Pirates thrashed Kaizer Chiefs 2-1 in a fierce encounter at the Orlando stadium. The match was dominated by controversial penalty decisions which seemed to favour the Chiefs. Despite being on the referee’s mercy, Kaizer Chiefs failed to convert clear chances into goals and the pirates punished them mercilessly. Thembinkosi Lorch and Siphesihle Ndlovu found the back of the net for the pirates while Daniel Cardoso scored for the chiefs.
Among the numerous chances Kaizer chiefs had, Nurkovic missed a penalty ,and to make it worse, Ngezana waisted the rebound when he missed an open net from just two yards away. Moreover, Lebogang Manyama waisted two chances at goal from just five yards out. On the other hand, Pirates took the lead on the 37th minute when Lorch beat the onrushing Akpeyi and placed the ball on the back of an open net. Pirates were denied a clear penalty when Jabu Pulle was pulled down in the box and as a result of their protests, Lorch, Monare and Motshwari were booked. Despite the penalty rejection, substitute Siphesihle Ndlovu doubled the Pirates lead at the 79th minute to secure a victory. Kaizer Chiefs defender Daniel Cardoso gave Chiefs temporary hope when he scored through a header, in the 84th minute.
