Soso had been part of the soapie since February 2021 before deciding to leave.
An inside source has disclosed that Sonwabisile ‘Soso’ Rungqu will assume a leading role in an eagerly awaited telenovela featuring an all-star cast on eTV. Soso, previously a presenter for Moja LOVE, will be departing from Generations The Legacy, where she portrayed Zanele, a senior and unyielding detective, since February 2021.
The source revealed that Soso received an irresistible offer to play a prominent role, an opportunity she has always aspired to. The publication has been informed that the former Moja LOVE presenter has already commenced filming for the new show.

As per the source, Soso secured the role last year and consulted with her bosses at Generations The Legacy to write her character out of the show until she finished her new role. She is said to have signed a one-year contract with the station.The source further disclosed,”I am aware that she has a longer and better contract, and she is overjoyed to be joining the new cast.”
The publication has learned that Sonwabisile ‘Soso’ Rungqu’s new role remains shrouded in mystery, but the telenovela is expected to debut in March. The production commenced filming in January and promises to be exhilarating due to the exceptional cast, according to the source. Efforts to contact Soso for comment were unsuccessful, as her phone went unanswered. Costas Gavriel, executive producer of Generations, confirmed that Soso departed from the show amicably.
“She landed a lead role in another production. She will return when she’s finished.”
Gavriel confirmed that Soso’s agent approached the show’s producers in December 2022 to inquire if she could be written out temporarily.
“We did not write her off. Producers and writers penned her character out to enable her to pursue a lead role in another production,” he explained.
