Granted the Mhlongo-Motaung household might be up in arms but there’s one positive from the home. Somizi’s cook books is topping the charts!
“Dinner At Somizi’s – I’m Not A Chef” is now the number one selling book in Food & Beverage chart in South Africa. The book is just above renowned chef Jamie Oliver’s book which comes second. It’s without doubt that though his marriage might not be in the best place ever barely a year after marriage, it is with doubt that Somizi is bringing in the bag!
The personality took to his Instagram to celebrate the achievement. “When the book was released I said I want to break records and asked you to do that ’cause I was told cookbooks don’t really do well in South Africa”.
The book grew from his 1 Magic cooking show, Dinner with Somizi which premiered last year and became an instant hit. Due to popular demand of his recipes from fans who watch TV and those that follow him on Instagram, Somizi decided to take it to the pen. The book has clearly become a best seller with everyone wanting a copy of it. The book was back on trending late last year when Duduzane Zuma signed a copy of it instead of Somizi, the author signing Duduzane’s copy.
It’s no surprise that the book is a massive hit as the show from which it was conceptualized also became one of Mzansi’s most watched shows. The 1 Magic Show is not clearly of drama though, in typical Somizi fashion. Allegations have been made that the concept of the show was stolen. However, the TV personality came out to deny all the allegations of the stolen show concept.
It’s without doubt that nothing can stop Somizi. The Idols SA judge announced that there’s something big coming on the 14th February. Something to look forward to!
