Somizi has gone big and not home this time around. The South African Idols judge has released his own sneaker collection in partnership with Bathu. The collaboration is called BathuXSomizi.
Bathu is a South African sneaker brand founded by Theo Baloyi. The two creatives, Theo Baloyi and Somizi Mhlongo-Motaung have come together to create magic in the form of sneakers.
The sneakers are available in gold, ruby, diamond and platinum and will be available from all Bathu stores and their online shop www.bathu.co.za from tomorrow at a price of R1800.
Somizi launched the sneaker line in a private extravagant event with select individuals present. DJ Zinhle, TT Mbha, Rami Chuene, Thando Thabethe and Noleen Maholwana, Shimza, Sangqu were among some of Somizi’s guests at the event.
Somizi will be in PTA, Newton Junction, Highveld Mall on Friday, Saturday and Sunday in that order for a tour of his sneaker line, BathuXSomizi
The TV personality announced in January that he has a Valentines surprise reveal so we guess this is it! “Finally we are here! 6 years of friendship, 2 years of conceptualization” read his brand reveal post.
This might just not be the only big surprise Somizi has for us in the brewing. Somizi has proven himself adventurous and unafraid to try new things and go after what he wants. The Idols judge has hinted at preparing for a restaurant. Somizi shared a video of him discussing restaurant layouts and menus captioned,
“Next level ISH… From TV show to cook book… to jets…. to yachts… restaurants. Yo dreams should scare u… Aint no stopping me now… I’m a child of God… The son of my ancestors… If it doesn’t kill you it should make you richer”.
So who knows, Dinner at Somizi’s might just be dinner at Somizi’s restaurant.
Dinner at Somizi was one of his successful projects as it became a 1 Magic favourite. Somizi successfully took his cooking skills off his Instagram to 1 Magic.
Although his cooking show, Dinner at Somizi’s was cancelled over disputes about ownership, the celebrity began the year on a high note with his book Dinner at Somizi’s – I’m not a Chef becoming a Mzansi favourite. The book sold well becoming number one of the best selling food and beverages books in Mzansi.
It’s clearly another Somizi year and we love this for him!
