It didn’t take long after the show’s beginning for viewers to start flooding the comment section on the SAMA 28 show, and it all went downhill. From bad sound to artists failing to show up, It seems the show was weighed, measured and found seriously lacking.
How Sound at the SAMA 28 went wrong the SAMAs
Viewers were complaining about not being able to hear their favourite songs properly; another issue with the sound was that the artists seemed to be lip-syncing to a pre-recorded audio to their music. This caused many of the artists to look like they were out of sync. The performances were not up to the standard expected; they were too short and lacked coordination.

Viewers were expecting a spectacular show after a two-year hiatus from Covid 19, but that wasn’t the case. Firstly, the lacklustre opening paved the way for a show that looked like it wasn’t well organized.
“Whoever who organized the music and that week band and poor sound engineer must ne fired? #SAMA28
“There’s someone shouting in the background😩 #SAMA28”
The Hosts of the show
The second problem.was the host of the show. Fans thought these presenters, who are well known to be the best at what they do, looked nervous and trying too hard. Viewers loved Lawrence Maleka, and Nandi Madida looked stunning but thought these two lacked the chemistry to carry out this show.
“#SAMA28 The Hosts Are Boring 😅😂😂”
Most artists were a no-show.
The third and the biggest problem on the show was that many artists were not there to pick up their awards. Things got so awkward that the presenters of these awards started getting nervous every time they called out a winner, asking each other if the winner was around and looking around.
#SAMA28 most artists aren’t there to collect their awards. Is there a strike we know nothing about? Or…?
Envelope opening
The fourth problem was the envelope opening on the stage. Everyone was struggling to open it, which also ended up being a topic on these awards.
SAMAs Artist of the Year Award
Lastly, the award for artist of the year went to Haksul Music. Many felt that the SAMA’s blundered and Black Twitter overdrive. They started investigating and found that this artist has fewer followers on YouTube than most of his fellow nominees, including the undisputed Queen Makhadzi.
There were some good moments at the show, though.
Firstly Lawrence Maleka brought the charm, and he was funny, and his skill was appreciated. The second thing that was great was Makhadzi, and we mean everything. She won the Music Video of the year, and then she gave the most electrifying performance of the night. The Ricky Rick tribute consisted of Stogie T and A Reece and made many happy.
That’s about it; some felt that the organizers deserve a break because everyone is still recovering from the aftershocks of COVID-19.
