The month of February begins on such a low with soccer lovers losing one of their own. Soccer anchor Sandile Kanqose has passed on. Once more Mzansi is robbed of one of the greatest.
The soccer anchor who spent a good bit of his career at eNCA and eTV was confirmed dead yesternight. His colleagues at the eNCA have been senging through their condolences with him being described as a passionate man. Hearts were broken as the news anchor was apparently still penning a book.
Soccer anchor Sandile KaNqose dies
His career with eNCA began when he was a freelance journalist in 2008 before becoming a permanent feature of the channel. Sandile was an analyst on the eNCA Saturday and Sunday sport shows.
He was at the forefront in welcoming the Springboks home after their 2019 Aorld Cup victory.
Sports Minister Nathi Mthethwa expressed his grief at the passing of Sandile KaNqose. “The flame of Sandile’s candle burnt out too soon. He was a young man, who colleagues describe as a consummate gentleman, always helpful, jovial and humorous. He will be remembered as a good soul, who was radiant and full of life, and who delivered sports bulletins with the utmost professionalism.”
SABC News journalist Flo Letoaba also shared her grief on Twitter.
“My heart is broken in a million pieces, a former colleague, a phenomenal broadcaster, a real mensch, Sandile kaNqose, goodbye my brother, I will hold you in my heart always,” she said.
Enuus News anchor Jenna Leigh Bilong was part of many that shared their finest moments with him.

Sandile died at the age of 42 and his survived by his wife and children.
