Former Gomora star Zolisa Xaluva is topping the trends after he spoke about landing acting roles and how Generations crooked actors. He has been dupped as the godfather of small screens, and his illustrious career that spans for years has thrust him amongst some of Mzansis finest. Zolisa Xaluva is a celebrated South African actor who has made many headlines with his on-screen characters on small screens.
His thrust into the limelight came in the backdrop of his on-screen character of Tsha Tsha as Lwazi Mboweni. In the mix of things, he switched the floor to join a host of star actors when he joined Generations in 2006. In the drama series, he starred as Jason Malinga. However, despite keeping his whole life a mystery, he has let Mzansi take a sneak into his life thanks to Podcast and Chill with MacG.
Undoubtedly, his on-screen character of Generations paved the way in the industry, and his controversial character thrust him into the spotlight. His stint on Generations was marred in drama and controversy despite nailing his character to perfection.
Speaking to MacG, he has it that a clause in the contract entitled lead actors to a stake of 14% of revenue, but that was not the case despite Generations having revenue of around shared R500 million. The failure to keep the promises that were made led to a strike which saw more than 14 lead actors axed from Generations, like Leleti Khumalo and the late Menzi Ngubane.

He has it that producers kept shifting goalposts; that’s when we struck. In the mix of things, he went on to dive into how actors a remunerated. Speaking on salaries on Generations – It should be fair and related to the contribution, but salaries depend on a fee. The bubbly actor made it known that showrunners like Generations swingle actors’ money and hardly honoured their contracts and was a victim of this.
One of the most shocking revelations that have got Mzansi talking is how he lands gigs. Xaluva says he doesn’t do auditions since he knows he is one of the best actors to come from South Africa. However, in the wake of his controversial exit from Gomora has opened up about his career.
The bubbly actor even revealed that he turned Gomora down when they invited him for auditions. However, he said that Gomora showrunners had to go through Ferguson Films to land him on their cast. And he made it known that he got the leading role without any auditions and was one of the few actors who did not stick to the script. Speaking about his exit on Gomora, he had to come to terms with the showrunners to put his character on hold but is more than convinced that he will make the much talked about return on Gomora that why his character wasnt killed.
