Former Uzalo actress Nelisa Mchunu returns to TV as Bazo on Isifiso; shocking salary revealed.
South African actress Nelisa Mchunu famously known for playing the role of Fikile on Uzalo, has resurfaced on television with a bag. Having disappeared from the public eye since her last scene on Uzalo, Nelisa bounces back in a new Mzansi Magic drama series called Isifiso (Desire).

The Kwazulu Natal-bred actress plays the role of Bazothini in the new Mzansi Magic drama series Isifiso. In Isifiso, the Bazothini or Bazo role is a cunning character who initially comes across as a humble and troubled sibling. During the debut episode of Isifiso, Bazo faces criticism from her mother, Mangobese (Duduzile Ngcobo). She is often castigated for marrying a poor husband, Mhlengi (Ntando Mncube) and compared to her younger sister Nobuhle (Mbalenhle Mthembu) who was married to a more affluent husband, Siboniso (Melusi Yeni). Despite working hard for her family, Bazo’s efforts went unrecognized by her mother. Mangobese mocked her daughter’s promotion to supervisor post at work and arranged that she becomes a maid at her younger sister’s house.

Bazothini’s life changed when she attended her brother inlaw’s party to celebrate his business success. In the turnout of events, it was revealed that Bazo and her sister’s husband, Siboniso were childhood lovers who had planned to get married when they came of age. Consequently, Nobuhle snatched Siboniso from Bazo and enjoyed the luxurious life she could have enjoyed. After succumbing to her mother’s pressure, Bazo murdered her sister by pushing her down their stirs in a bit to take over her husband.
Nelisa Mchunu’s salary on Isifiso
Though she played minor roles in Generations The Legacy and Isidingo, Isifiso is Nelisa’s most prominent role in her acting career. She plays the leading character in Isifiso, and despite being flanked by the experienced talent in Duduzile Ngcobo and Ntando Mncube, Nelisa is the highest-paid cast member with a salary of R69 000 in the drama series. Having enjoyed an illustrious career so far, Nelisa quickly becomes a fan favourite while playing the role of Fikile on Uzalo.
