Slay Queen Nurse Sne from Durban Gen is an author in real life
Playing Nomncebo on Uzalo, she makes us believe she is in her forties. To be able to convince such to viewers requires skills unmatched. Her character and Qhabanga are childhood sweethearts. She falls pregnant while Qhabanga is in college and they are happy to be parents.
Life takes a turn when Qhabanga starts working as he is so determined to go up the ranks as a police officer. Nomncebo eventually finds love in the arms of another man, Mkhushulwa Biyase, and breaks up with Qhabanga. Since the first cut is the deepest, Nomncebo ends it with Biyase and goes back to KwaMashu. This is in a bid to find her dead son and bury him.
In an interview, the actress reveals her love for literature and that she is an author.
“I’ve been writing a lot as well, I’m actually an underground writer and I’ve been sending some of my recent stuff to my mentor. I have written some interesting stories about the pandemic, about life in lockdown, with characters whose circumstances just don’t make sense for what the government asked. Things like only having 2 people in an apartment at a time isn’t possible for people who live 5, 6, 7 people to a 1 bedroom shack. So my writing has been trying to depict what’s happening on the ground,” the actress says.
It is mind boggling how one person can execute so many personalities flawlessly. She continues to make our TV moments worthwhile as she cooks up mischief on Durban Gen.
