She is the third queen to carry the dazzling headpiece. Its a creation by American Swiss in collaboration with world-renowned jewellery designer Johan Louw of Uwe Koetter. The uBuhle crown first introduced to the Miss SA pageant in 2019 has a symbolism in sparkle and glitz.
Its name comes from the beauty of the rainbow and the design revolves around this notion. The design of the multi-colored band of gems around the pedestal is enthused by traditional Ndebele patterns while the larger princess cut stones rising up from it resemble shooting stars.
The 182 carats of bling are not real diamonds and the sterling silver crown is studded with 2,586 finely chiseled cubic zirconia stones. The masterpiece takes 36 hours to sort the stones and a total of 192 hours to assemble it. The 517g uBuhle crown is worth its weight with a value of R500 000.
