Shock as crocodile seeks refuge in widow’s home
On Sunday, a crocodile left Zananda Dam in Shurugwi to seek refuge in Ms Marandure’s bedroom. Sources say the dam was filled with too much water that the crocodile had to find comfort elsewhere.
At around 10pm intending to sleep, Ms Jospehine Marandure discovers the reptile in her bedroom. In full shock she alerts the immediate family members of the unexpected incident. Ms Marandure confirms the event in a statement. She says,
“We reported the matter to the police and then they informed the Zimbabwe National Parks and Wildlife Authority officials. These officials then go on to capture the reptile safely without it causing any harm.”

Chief Nhema also confirms the incident. He clarifies that no harm was done to Ms Marandure and the crocodile. “We are still in a state of shock because this is a taboo in our area. However, officials from Zimbabwe Parks and Wildlife Management Authority confirm that it is a norm especially during the rainy season,” he says.
Zimbabwe has been experiencing heavy rains this season which have resulted in parts of the country being flooded. Such areas include Gweru, Chivi, Chiredzi and Harare. Other areas still to expect floods include Tsholotsho, Save valley, Kanyemba and Muzarabani.
The authorities still constantly remind the public to exercise extra caution.
