She enrolled at the University of KwaZulu Natal for a degree in Law. Although her dream of being an Advocate was coming true, Connie later dropped out of the programme due to financial disputes. Her parents couldn’t afford her tertiary tuition, and winning a scholarship back then was very hard. During the apartheid era, getting a scholarship as a black child was not possible.

In 1994 she won an acting gig at Generations, the long-running show as Karabo Moroka. Although she was never trained for acting, she nailed her role to perfection, making Mzansi fall in love with her character. After years of portraying Karabo Moroka, the production team of Generations wanted their cast members to have a certificate in Arts or anything along those lines.
