Jessica Jane Malebatsi is one of the most iconic female fashion designers. She owns the couture brand named after herself and strictly makes bespoke feminine couture. She and the former Scandal actor Duma, real name Wandile Malebatsi have been married for almost a decade. Jessica is about keeping her private life private, but she shares glimpses into her life here and there.
As a fashion designer who makes only couture items, they are most likely to cost a few grand. Couture garments are made from the most durable fabrics, and if they have prints, then it’s most likely not to fade. Such items can sit in the closet for years; therefore, they are a tad more expensive than retail wear. The cheapest on her clothing line costs R 1900, and the most costly item costs R48,000.
Paris Fashion Week
During the Paris Fashion Week this year, Jessica showed off her unique and breathtakingly designs on the runway. She showed off her tracksuits called Noluthando; they range from R1,900 to R9,950. She names her clothing items after people in the Xhosa culture, and one of them is Chumi (Nomchumane).
Jessica’s designs are widely inspired by the Xhosa culture hence the names and the black and white colours of her designs. Within her design range, she has terms of garments like Makazi, which means the sister of the mother. She also has names like Lusanda, Nontsikelelo, Nothuleka and uSisi.
Stars she has dressed.
Jessica has dressed an array of South African female celebrities throughout the years. Presenter Minnie Dlamini is one of the stars she has dressed the most over the past few years. Jessica has also outfitted the former Generations The Legacy actress socialite Tarina Patel. Some other stars include the actress and DJ Thuli P and the actresses Terry Pheto and Amanda du-Pont.
As she dressed these stars, she built close, keen friendships with them. She recently was at a pyjama party with Amanda du-Pont and Tarina Patel. All the ladies were dressed in luxury pyjamas and played fun pillow-fighting games.
Minnie Dlamini’s birthday outfit
Minnie is probably the celebrity who supports Jessica the most. When the presenter celebrated her birthday this year, she wore Jessica’s Noluthando dress. The dress retails for R12,000 to R24,000. Minnie also walked the runway for Jessica during Paris Fashion Week.
Jessica and her husband Wandile recently celebrated their ninth wedding anniversary. Both of them seldom post pictures of one another and share very touching captions on them, literally praising each other. They have two beautiful children, and they suppose their career prospects to be the maximum.
Wandile disappeared from the Mzansi small screens after he played the drug addict Duma, who conflicted with his father. He is currently working as an Executive in Coal Stove Pictures. His work in television and film production is ever-emerging and vast.
