Makhadzi has responded to the allegations in her recent lawsuit. In response to news that Kick Sportswear, the company that makes Kicks Kokovha sneakers, is suing them over their multi-million rand deal, Open Mic Productions, the record label that manages Limpopo singer Makhadzi, has released a statement on Instagram.

They admitted that they are now perplexed by this claim of R8 million, considering that Makhadzi lost money because the deal was exclusive. According to Open Mic, Makhadzi requested several pairs of shoes in December 2021 to wear and promote, but she was given several justifications that the shoes weren’t available. She missed other opportunities as a result.

They claimed that despite their concerns that the peak holiday shopping season was approaching and they had no stock in hand, the stock never arrived in the promised 90 days since the supplier insisted that they launch the sneakers when they entered into the R120 million agreement. In February 2022, 6900 shoes were finally received. Open Mic Productions made several attempts to help the supplier fulfil its obligations to deliver the goods. According to the contract, the complainant was supposed to provide 8000 pairs of shoes each month, but that hasn’t happened yet.

According to the record company, they even provided Makhadzi’s schedule for activations to increase brand sales. But they didn’t do anything about it. After successful activation, they claimed to have organized. They claimed the sneaker company stopped returning their calls and messages. According to Open Mic, they received a letter from a lawyer in April to save the project. They asked for a meeting to discuss the matter with lawyers in attendance. They got in touch with the client because the project was about to expire and wanted to see if they could save it.

Mzansi had no idea that Makhadzi’s R120 million contract with the sneaker company, which she announced in November 2021, would lead to conflict between the two parties. It has been revealed that Makhadzi has a lawsuit and is being sued for allegedly not publicizing the sneaker collection. According to reports, Kicks Sportswear has filed an R8.2 million lawsuit against her. Open Mic Productions has launched a fierce defence to have the case against their client dismissed in the wake of the accusations. Open Mic Productions claimed in their statement that the complainant was attempting to damage their reputation.
