A security company in Waterfalls lost USD 400,000 through a suspected inside job. The Zimbabwe Republic Police has just informed the public about an incident that happened in Waterfalls.
A security company based in Waterfalls, Harare has lost cash amounting to US$400, 000 in a suspected inside job involving employees. The stolen money was in a cash box which went missing from the company vault.
The cash box was later recovered outside the company premises without the money. Investigations are in progress.
Citizens and companies have been forced to keep cash at home. The crime rate in Zimbabwe has been increasing as the economic worsens. The Zimbabwe Republic Police have been warning citizens to exercise caution when they are dealing with huge sums of money.
Citizens have been forced to keep money at home as they no longer trust the banking system. New banking laws introduced in Zimbabwe in the post dollarisation era have not inspired confidence in the banking system. Corporates are no longer allowed to withdraw foreign currency from their accounts. They are also not allowed to transfer from their corporate accounts to personal accounts. Only personal accounts allow cash withdrawals.
