Seasoned Generations and Gomora actor loses battle with cancer
Well, Mzansi is mourning the death of a legend and king in the history-making. May his dear soul rest in peace. For years he has managed to wow Mzansi and keep many entertained. No doubt he was a reckoning force in the entertainment industry.
Of late Gomora has become one of the most-watched drama series in Mzansi thanks to its cast and crew. We can all agree that it won’t be the same without David Butler.
It has been established that David Butler passed on at the age of 61. The news of his untimely death has since been confirmed by his family and Gomora showrunners. David was said to battling cancer and he sadly succumbed to it on Thursday.

The late David Butler was reportedly diagnosed with cancer in December 2020. To help with his medical expenses a Facebook page called ‘BackABuddy’ was created. The same page announced his death saying he passed away peacefully on Thursday morning.

Part of the released press statement from the family has it that:
“Our beloved father, son, brother, grandfather and friend, David passed away peacefully this morning at around 10.30 am. He was surrounded by family in a room filled with love. Although he had been ill, it is still, as is always the case, a huge shock. Nothing prepares one.
Honestly, we take comfort that David is reunited with his beautiful son,” the statement reads. “We respectfully ask that the family are given space to process their loss. We will share with you the details of any arrangements as they unfold.”
However, it was recently reported that David was set to receive a new drug trial of medicine. In his fight with the disease, David was set to begin a new drug trial. In the wake of his death, it was also revealed that “Two week’s ago David’s oxygen levels were low, he had an infection, and he was admitted to hospital.
