Mamarumo Marokane has been stealing the spotlight on Scandal with her conniving ways as Vuvu. She is mainly known for her role in shadow; a Netflix hit series. The actress expands her CV as Mamarumo Marokane joins Giyani: Land of Blood playing Judy Mashaba on the series.
The Scandal actress took to her Instagram to announce that she had bagged a new character in the Xitsonga series. The character she will be playing is Judy, and the actress is excited to be on this one of a kind drama series. Giyani-Land of blood started airing in April 2019, and the first season ended the same year. Viewers were left with a cliffhanger because they thought that was the end of the series.
However, two years later, Tsheda Pictures announced that the second season of the series would be airing on SABC 2 from the first of November. The news was well-received by fans and people of the Xitsonga tribe because this is the first series to show their culture. The storyline focuses on a post-Apartheid South Africa and a feud between the Mudau and Baloyi families. The storyline is mainly centred on the hatred between the two families, which comes with greed, forbidden love, and corruption.
Viewers complaining that Giyani-Land of Blood has lost originality
However, people have been complaining that the series has lost its originality ever since hiring more Sepedi speaking actors. Giyani: Land of blood’s selling point was that it was a series with Xitsonga speaking people showing the viewers the group’s culture that had minority representation in the acting industry.
Mamarumo is still one of the fast-rising young actresses in the South African entertainment scene. With several prestigious roles under her belt, it is safe to say that Marokane is making it big. She has become a household name because of her role in Scandal. She was also recognized as one of the four girls International actress Pearl Thusi said is to look out for in the first Cosmopolitan Netflix issue.
