Sbonga from Gomora ‘Khaya Mthembu’ is younger than he looks; actual age revealed
Khaya Mthembu plays the role of Sbonga on Gomora. On Gomora, the Sbonga Madida character is married to Pretty Molefe; he works at the Sonto tavern with his wife. Sbonga cohabits with Pretty Molefe at MaSonto’s house and is often ridiculed by community members for staying with his mother in law.

Sbonga is married to Pretty and is the father to teenage girl Tshiamo –the role played by Lerato Mokoka; he dreams of taking his family out of Gomora.
Marrying a frustrated daughter from a family where she is treated and lives in the shadow of her elder sister is an arduous task for Sbonga to deal with. When MaSonto’s elder daughter Thathi and her children arrived to stay in Gomora, a sibling war erupted between Pretty and her elder sister, leaving Sbonga to deal with his wife’s anger.
Sbonga frequently gets ridiculed by community members for cohabiting at his mother in law’s house; he is also a well-respected school committee chairperson at Gomora High School. The role he plays with respect and integrity, Sbonga was involved in reprimanding Principal Melusi Dlamini – the role played by Zolisa Xaluva when he exchanged blows with London, his student.
He is frequently rebuked for acting impulsively and without analyzing the situation. Sbonga struggles to shack off a cheating scandal on his back.
Khaya Mthembu early life
Khaya was born in Empangeni, a city located in the North of Durban; he discovered his acting talent early. What started as a comic child during family gatherings and holidays was natured into global talent. Khaya Mthembu performed short drama plays in high school during his early years. Khaya is qualified with a Degree in Acting and Contemporary performance from Rhodes University; he enrolled with AFDA School of Film in Johannesburg.
His young age (36) captured the attention of soapville fans, who often see him portraying an older character in the soapies he featured.
Over his career, Khanya played roles in popular soap operas. He featured on Generations The Legacy (Detective James), Isithembiso as Detective Mfihleko and Is’thunzi as Chief of Police.
