Savannah Park Secondary Coronavirus: Savannah Park Secondary closes after teacher tests positive for COVID-19
Chatsworth based school is the 3rd school to shut down after a teacher tests positive for COVID-19 .
Clairwood Secondary and Apollo Secondary also close after teachers test positive.
The teacher who tested positive at Savannah Park secondary school never come in contact with students.
The principal of Savannah Park Secondary school Mr A S Naicker wrote a letter to the parents informing them of the decision to close the school.
Allow me to thank all parents/guardians for sending your child/ward back to school trusting that all safety protocols are in place. The SMT and SGB went the extra mile to ensure the safe return of all learners, educator and support staff.
I was informed (19h16) today that an educator on our staff has tested positive for COVID-19. The said educator was absent from school yesterday, Monday 8th June and today. She was never in contact with learners.
Having consulted with the District Director, Mr P.N Cele, I have been instructed to temporarily suspend tuition for both grades 7 and 12 until further communication. However, the Department of Education together with the Department of Health will be at school tomorrow to do screening and testing of educators and support staff. The school will also be fumigated and sanitized.
You are therefore advised to keep your child/ward at home until further notice.
