Sandile Zungu Buys AmaZulu Football Club
Businessman Sandile Zungu has been confirmed as the new President of Amazulu Football Club after he bought a 100% share of the KwaZulu Natal club.
Reports had indicated that Zungu had brought AmaZulu but the club only made the acquisition public at the Hilton Hotel in Durban on Friday afternoon.
“I think it’s been the climax of a long journey. We started talking in 2006 if I’m not mistaken and today we’ve accomplished it after 14 years of courtship. I’m very pleased to be here,” Zungu said during his unveiling.
“Soccer is a game I love, it’s a game of the people, and I approach it with a lot of confidence that we’ll make a difference. We’re very excited.
“AmaZulu is arguably the strongest soccer brand in this country, not only the oldest team at 88 years old. Our responsibility as owners is to build the club to the number one team in the country.”
Zungu said AmaZulu must start competing for the top four in the DStv Premiership instead of fighting relegation and then doubled down on his ambitions.
“AmaZulu has got to be the number one team in this country come the year of our centenary in 2032,” he boldly proclaimed.
Dr Patrick Sokhela, the owner and chairman of AmaZulu Football Club (F.C) entered into an agreement with the Zungu Investment Company (ZICO) in which ZICO have acquired 100% ownership of AmaZulu.#AmazuluFC #Usuthu_Pride
