Sanctor High School bullying victim attempts suicide after her pictures went viral
No doubt social media can make one an overnight celebrity or destroys one blooming career or future in a blink of an eye.
South Africa of late seems to be battling with bullying which has since claimed the lives of many especially those who are still going to school. Pressure groups have sent some SOS’s to the government to take punitive punishments on those who practise bullying.
Barely a few days after the tragic death of Lufuno Mavhunga a Mbilwi Secondary School learner who committed suicide following a bullying incident at school, another attempted suicide case has been reported.
In the wake of Lufuno death, it has been established that a Sanctor High School student recently attempted suicide after her photos went viral. The student was rushed to Livingstone Hospital in Gqeberha after she took an overdose of pills in a bid to take away her life.
She received social media bullying after her squatting picture flooded social media. The picture, shows the girl posing for a picture in a squatting position. However, it seems as if one social media user decided to make fun of the girl with a daring caption. The social media user took the picture from the back and captioned it “Sanctor High’s children shi* in the bush.”

The picture went viral and flooded social media. Despite the sister rubbishing the claims, some social media users ran with the story that the girl was relieving herself. Well according to the cyberbullying victim’s sister the girl took pills to get rid of the bullying.
Honestly, she could not take the cyberbullying and overdosed herself with pills.
“So this is the full story about my sister. She was taking pictures at school and then a stupid boy took a picture behind her saying that she was helping herself.
“I don’t know how but some of you guys made a joke and spoke badly about her. She took pills cause she could not handle the pain and things that some people said about her. She’s now fighting for her life in the hospital because of this. We as her family are in so much pain. But the Lord will be with her in this pain.”
She further shared a picture of her sister being treated in the hospital. However, it has been established that she has since been discharged.
