Mncedisi Shabangu is a South African actor playing Khulekani Ngobese on etvs hit soapie Rhythm City. Shabangu is also a celebrated Theatre gaffer. His contribution to South African Theatre spans over two decades and now he makes our TV sessions memorable.
Ngobese, a character masses love to hate on etv’s Rhythm City, is always plotting evil schemes. The invincible man that he is has one weakness, his wife Nandi who is hell-bent on poking the soft spot he has for her time and again. Khulekani brought about a new flair of acting with his old thuggish tactics.

He is another success story of a village boy who makes it to the top after fighting tooth and nail to thrive. Shabangu’s first big role is in Gordon Motha’s Secret Agenda in 1992. His acting career kicks off three years later when he starts formal training at The Market Theatre Laboratory, graduating at the end of 1996. This sees him proceeding to The Royal national theatre Studio to study The Summer Acting Course in 1998.

Shabangu made headlines when he walked away with the KKNK gong for best actor for Tshepang. He also scooped the FNB Vita Award for Best Actor in a supporting role.
