He has the plug, and his bling is unmatched. He has fast become one of Mzansi’s finest. Clement Maosa is a celebrated South African actor best known for his Skeem Saam character Zamokuhle Kwaito Seakamela on SABC 1. On Skeem Saam, he is cast as a womanizer who is always implicated in a love triangle.

His unmatched talent has managed to wow Mzansi for seasons; we can all agree that he makes the difference on Skeem Saam. The 33-year-old actor was born on 9 May, Polokwane, South Africa.

Well, apart from acting, Maosa also doubles as an events manager and cum-musician. The actor has managed to release several tracks of late and has featured some of Mzansi’s finest, including King Monada.

In recent years his rags to riches story have seen him trending. Of interest is the fact that he is Law graduate. Clement Maosa studied Law at the University of Limpopo and graduated with an LLB.

Although he studied Law, Clement stated that his calling of being an actor was too strong. He worked in a Law field for like three months and ditched it to become an actor. Ever since his choice to be an actor, Clement has become one of the most recognizable faces in Mzansi.

However, blessed a those who see beautiful things in humble places where others see nothing. Maosa bagged a gig on Skeem Saam after he directly called the showrunners to inform them that he did not have transport money to come for auditions despite having interests. The actor was then blessed with a well-wisher then a guest room was booked for him whilst he was doing his auditions.

He bagged the gig, and the rest was history. However, despite being the face of Skeem Saam, the actor has also featured in several series. Here are some of the series the actor has starred on.

  • Dream School SA as Teacher
  • Rented Family as Tony
  • Zaziswa as Himself
  • #Karektas as Guest Star
  • Tropika Smooth Fan as Contestant

However, in the wake of his unmatched talent, many questions have been asked about how much the star actor gets paid for his Kwaito character. In recent years salaries of actors have been determined by time on scenes, experience and role prominence. The star actor is paid between R40 000 and R50 000 per month. However, this might come as a shocker because other showrunners pay more to their lead actors. Rumour has it that Skeem Saam pays relatively low given that it’s a low budget drama series.
