Gomora is fast becoming one of the most watched telenovelas in Mzansi due to its excellent storyline. The telenovela consists of comic characters like Sbonga (Khaya Mthembu) and Bongani ( Thulani Mtsweni).
On Gomora, Sbonga and Bongani play almost the same role. The two are househusbands who cohabitate at their wives’ houses. Sbonga stays at MaSonto’s house, with his wife and mother-in-law, and he doesn’t pay any bills.
Many would have wondered how much these actors are being paid to nail their househusbands’ roles to excellency. In contrast, Bongani stays at Zodwa’s ( Sannah Muchunu) house, where he found refuge after losing his job. He spends his money on his baby mama Zoliswa (Zinzi Nteyi Nsele), leaving Zodwa to pay their day-to-day bills.
Despite Gomora being one of the low-budget telenovelas in Mzansi, the showrunners of the telenovela have managed to pay their actors handsomely. Here is a look at how much Gomora show runners pay for almost the same role.
Salaries of Sbonga ‘Khaya Mthembu’ and Bongani ‘Thulani Mtsweni
Thulani Mtsweni plays the character of Bongani, who lost his job at a Shisanyama and found refuge at his girlfriend’s house, Zodwa. After losing his job, he struggles to make ends meet, and his baby mama is constantly sucking the little money he is making. Bongani is proving to be a master of his craft as he has a charming way of keeping Gomora fans glued to their screens.
For his character on Gomora, the actor is talking home a salary of R57 000 monthly, higher than Gomora’s average salary of R31 000.
On the other hand, Khaya Mthembu plays the character of Sbonga Madida, the husband of Pretty Molefe (Siyasanga Papu) and in-law to the Mofele family. He works at the Sonto tavern and stays with his wife Pretty and daughter Tshiamo ( Lerato Mokoka) at MaSonto’s house. The community often ridicules him for staying with his mother-in-law. Currently, his character is having problems with his wife as Pretty wants to move to America with an ex-boyfriend to fulfil her dreams. Sbonga is afraid that he may lose his beloved wife, so he is trying, by all means, to delay Pretty from moving abroad.
Khaya Mthembu is taking home a salary of R32 000 for his comic role as Sbonga on Gomora.
