South Africa taxi wars are getting bloody everyday with the latest victims being three men in a white VW Golf vehicle. A man was confirmed dead while two others were injured in a drive-by shooting in Duffs Road on Monday afternoon.
KwaZulu-Natal police spokesperson Colonel Thembeka Mbele said they still have little information to conclude the incident is taxi war related and they are still searching for the shooters.
Mbele revealed that a white VW Golf 7 was parked at a traffic intersection and came under fire from a vehicle driving by.
“The driver was shot dead and two passengers in the vehicle were seriously injured. they are now at the hospital now,” she said.
Three firearms have been recovered from the vehicle and are suspected to have been possessed by the victims of the drive by shootout.
The pictures of the shooting have been widely shared on social media with the car bullet riddled and with stains of blood everywhere.

The police believe the shooting of the white VW Golf 7 is taxi related.
The suspects are alleged to be criminals on police’s most wanted list.
Some reports indicate that the victims have been identified as the most wanted suspects, K/Dabeka Cas65/02/2020 murder. The driver is (Thulani Jeffrey Zondi, deceased) was identified by his brother Nkululeko Zondi . (06445 68343), Nikkie Shezi of Kwamhlabunzima K/Dabeka & Albert Mncwabe aka Sosha are both injured.
Durban has witnessed a fair share of taxi violence with a taxi boss being gunned down at a Taxi rank in Verulam, north of Durban. The man was seated in his vehicle when a passer by shot him in the abdomen. The taxi boss sustained serious injuries and was rushed to the hospital where he died shortly after.

At the time, Reaction Unit SA spokesperson Prem Balram said the man had been seated in his vehicle.
“The man sustained gunshot wounds to his abdomen and his right and left arms. His friend managed to rush him to the Rusa office and he was stabilised at the scene before being rushed to the Osindisweni Hospital. He died shortly after arriving at the hospital from the gun shot wounds,” Balram said.
Another taxi boss linked to the Fynnland Taxi Association was shot dead at his home.
