Muzi Mthabela joins Generations The Legacy to play Nkosi Cele after establishing his name on Mzansi Magic telenovela Isibaya where he played Duma Ngema. Alcohol abuse nearly cost him his career and life in 2010 until Molemo Maarohanye, popularly known as Jub Jub’s 2010 accident, rescued him.
How Jub Jub saved Muzi Mthabela’s life
In 2010 drunk Jub Jub ploughed into a group of school children, and four were killed while another two survived with brain damage in a fatal accident in Soweto during a drag race. Songwriter and media personality was charged with culpable homicide and sentenced to 10 years in prison with his friend Themba Tshabalala. Jub Jub was released on parole after serving four years of his sentence. While he leant from his mistakes, actor Muzi Mthabela also drew life-changing lessons from the ordeal; from the fateful day, he decided to quit alcohol and turned over a new leaf.
“After hearing about Molemo and his friends’ fatal accident, a sad day in South Africa, I had to self-introspect and rethink my lifestyle. That was a lesson to all of us who abused alcohol, and I could have easily traded positions with Jub Jub. Quitting alcohol wasn’t easy till I decided to give my life Christ.”

Muzi joins Generations cast to play Nkosiyabo Cele, uncle to Doctor Sphe, a businessman ready to give the Moroka’s a run for their money. Nkosi has built a successful waste management business over the past twenty-five years. He has the common touch and cultivates a rough and ready persona, but this hides a very controlled, sharp business person.
An astute business person, Nkosi is action-oriented and uses deception and manipulation to get things done.
