Broke Ntsiki Mazwai charged R70,000 to appear on Podcast and Chill with MacG
It never rains but pours for Ntsiki Mazwai. The controversial poet and activist have been making all sorts of headlines after it was revealed that she needed a hefty amount to feature on MacG’s controversial Podcast and Chill.
The controversial Podcaster lashed out at Ntsiki Mazwai for asking a hefty amount for an interview at the second most followed podcast in the world.
MacG has it that they reached out to Mazwai in the backdrop of the Ari Lennox scandal. MacG saw himself trending after he caught the celebrated American musician off-guard and asked her if “someone was f****ing” her good right now”. The question, according to MacG, was asked in the context of her lyrics in one of her hit songs.
Ari Lennox did not just go after MacG but Africa at large. She even went on to call Africans “peasants”. In the wake of the drama, MacG did apologise. Back home, he was very open in having Mazwai share her opinion. However, MacG alleged that Mazwai needed something around R70,000 to appear on his show in the mix of things.

Mazwai has weighed into the matter with a detailed response. The bubbly personality did confirm that he asked for the payout, but it was from a different conversation, and there was a reason she did so.
“The R70,000 discussed it was to help pay for my legal bills, and this was made very clear. Their office was very vocal about the people who sued me, and they wanted to help. They gave me the impression they wanted to help as they felt I was not treated with justice by the system.
“When the deal wasn’t coming together, it was followed by a string of insults on WhatsApp; which ultimately resulted in them choosing to frame the narrative to cause harm to my image,” the statement read.
Mazwai revealed that she didn’t want to be part of the podcast because of its “misogynistic” tone.
